Wendy Jie Wang (b. 2003) is an artist who investigates the fragile and ambiguous boundary between perception and truth through the delicate yet intricate technique of tempera glazing. Deeply engaged with the historical legacy of tempera painting, she seeks both to preserve its meticulous craftsmanship and to subvert its traditional constraints. Her paintings invite viewers to peel back the unseen, offering a tactile, meditative experience that transforms watching into an act of revelation. She expresses the concern for the individual's recurring transcendental experience, using the luminosity and layering of tempera to evoke a sense of timeless introspection and metaphysical revelation.
